[D] I started on a journey [G] about a year [D] ago to a little town called [Bm] Morrow in the [A] State of Ohio.<\/strong> – – – [D] I’ve never been much of a traveler, and I [G] really didn’t [D] know that Morrow was the [Bm] hardest place I’d [A] ever try to [D] go.<\/span><\/p>\n

So I [Bm] went down to the [Fm] station for my [Bm] ticket and [Fm] applied for [Bm] tips regarding [Fm] Morrow not [D] expecting to [A] beguiled. – – –\u00a0<\/span>Said [D] I, “My friend, I’d like to go to [G] Morrow and [D] return no later than [G] tomorrow for I [A] haven’t time to [D] burn.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Said [D] he to me, “Now let me see if [G] I have heard you [D] right. You’d like to go to [Bm] Morrow and [A] return tomorrow night. – – – [D] You should have gone to Morrow [G] yesterday and back [D] today for the train that goes to [Bm] Morrow is a [A] mile upon its [D] way.<\/span><\/p>\n

If [Bm] you had gone to [Fm] Morrow [Bm] yesterday now don’t you [Fm] see, you [Bm] could have gone to [Fm] Morrow and [D] returned today at [A] three, – – –\u00a0 <\/span>for the [D] train today to Morrow, if the [G] schd-u-ele is [D] right, today it goes to [G] Morrow and [A] returns tomorrow [D] night.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

[D] Said I, “My friend, it seems to me you’re [G] talking through your [D] hat. There is a town named [Bm] Morrow on the [A] line now tell me that.” – – – [D] “There is, ” said he, “but take from me a [G] quiet little [D] tip. To go from here to [Bm] Morrow is a [A] fourteen hour [D] trip.<\/span><\/p>\n

The [Bm] train today to [Fm] Morrow leaves [Bm] today at eight [Fm] O-five. At [Bm] half-past ten [Fm] tomorrow is the [D] time it should [A] arrive. – – – <\/span>So [D] if from here to [Bm] Morrow is a [G] fourteen hour [D] jump, can you [D] go today to [G] Morrow and get [A] back today, you [D] chump?”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

[D] Said I, “I’d like to go to Morrow so [G] can I go [D] today and get to Morrow [Bm] by tonight if [A] there is no delay?”\u00a0 \u00a0[D] “Well, well, ” said he to me, “and [G] I’ve got no more to [D] say. CAN YOU GET anywhere [G] tomorrow and get [A] back again [D] today?”<\/span><\/p>\n

[Bm] Said I, “I guess you [Fm] know it all,\u00a0 but [Bm] kindly let me [Fm] say, how [Bm] can I get to [Fm] Morrow if I [D] leave this town [A] today?”\u00a0 – – – Said [D] he, “You cannot [Bm] go to Morrow [G] any more [D] today ’cause the [D] train that goes to [G] Morrow is a [A] mile upon its [D] way.”<\/span><\/p>\n

[Bm] I was so [Fm] disappointed. I was [Bm] mad enough to [Fm] swear. The [Bm] train had gone to [Fm] Morrow and had [D] left me standing [A] there.\u00a0 – – – [D] HE HAD NO RIGHT in [Bm] telling me that [G] I was a-howling [D] jay.
