[C<\/em>] Now everybody’s [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> got a crazy notion of their [C<\/em>]<\/strong> own<\/span>
\n[F<\/em>]<\/strong> Some like to mix up with a [C<\/em>]<\/strong> crowd, some [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> like to be [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> alone<\/span>
\nIt’s no [F<\/em>]<\/strong> one else’s business, as [C<\/em>]<\/strong> far as I can see<\/span>
\nBut [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> every time that I go out the people stare at [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> me<\/span><\/p>\n

With my [C<\/em>]<\/strong> little ukulele in my hand [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nOf [F<\/em>]<\/strong> course the people do not [C<\/em>]<\/strong> understand<\/span>
\nSome [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> say, ‘Why don’t you be a scamp? Why [C<\/em>]<\/strong> don’t you read a book?’<\/span>
\nBut [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> I get lots more pleasure when I’m playing with me [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> uke!<\/span>
\nOf [C<\/em>]<\/strong> course I take no [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> notice you [Am<\/em>]<\/strong> can tell [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nFor [F<\/em>]<\/strong> mother’s sound advice will always [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> stand<\/span>
\nShe said ‘My [C<\/em>]<\/strong> boy do as I [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> say<\/span>
\nAnd you’ll [A7<\/em>]<\/strong> never go [Dm<\/em>]<\/strong> astray<\/span>
\n[G7<\/em>]<\/strong> If you [C<\/em>]<\/strong> keep your uku-[G7<\/em>]<\/strong>-lele in your [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand, [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> Yes [A7<\/em>]<\/strong> son!<\/span>
\n[D7<\/em>]<\/strong> Keep your [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> ukulele in your [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand<\/span><\/p>\n

While [C<\/em>]<\/strong> walking on the [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> prom one night as [C<\/em>]<\/strong> peaceful as can be<\/span>
\nWhen [F<\/em>]<\/strong> some young girl said, “What about a [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> walk down by the [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> sea?”<\/span>
\nShe [F<\/em>]<\/strong> said her name was Jen and that she’d [C<\/em>]<\/strong> just come for the day,<\/span>
\nShe [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> looked so young and harmless that I couldn’t turn a-[G7<\/em>]<\/strong>-way.<\/span><\/p>\n

So with me [C<\/em>]<\/strong> little ukulele in my hand [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\n[F<\/em>]<\/strong> Me and Jen we walked along the [C<\/em>]<\/strong> sand<\/span>
\nWe [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> walked along for miles without a [C<\/em>]<\/strong> single care or frown,<\/span>
\nBut [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> when we reached the sand dunes, she said, “Come on lets sit down.” [G7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nI [C<\/em>]<\/strong> felt so shy and [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> bashful sitting [Am<\/em>]<\/strong> there [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nCause the [F<\/em>]<\/strong> things she said I didn’t under-[G7<\/em>]<\/strong>-stand<\/span>
\nShe said, “Your [C<\/em>]<\/strong> love just makes me [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> dizzy<\/span>
\n[Am<\/em>]<\/strong> Come on big boy get [Dm<\/em>]<\/strong> busy!”<\/span>
\n[D7<\/em>]<\/strong> But I kept a [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> ukulele in my [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand<\/span>
\n[E7<\/em>]<\/strong> Yes [A7<\/em>]<\/strong> sir!<\/span>
\n[D7<\/em>]<\/strong> I kept my [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> ukulele in my [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand!<\/span><\/p>\n

[C<\/em>]<\/strong> Made up my mind that [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> I’d get wed some [C<\/em>]<\/strong> eighteen months ago,<\/span>
\nI [F<\/em>]<\/strong> also bought a book about [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> the things a boy should [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> know.<\/span>
\nBut [F<\/em>]<\/strong> just about a week ago I [C<\/em>]<\/strong> had an awful fright,<\/span>
\nI [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> had to get dressed quickly in the middle of the [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> night.<\/span>
\nAnd with my [C<\/em>]<\/strong> little ukulele in my hand, [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nI went [F<\/em>]<\/strong> running down the street to Doctor [C<\/em>]<\/strong> Brand.<\/span>
\nIt [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> didn’t take him long to get his [C<\/em>]<\/strong> bag of tools<\/span>
\nI [D7<\/em>]<\/strong> held his hat and coat and let him have me book of [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> rules<\/span>
\n[C<\/em>]<\/strong> Out the bedroom [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> door he looked and [Am<\/em>]<\/strong> smiled [C7<\/em>]<\/strong><\/span>
\nHe said, [F<\/em>]<\/strong> “Come inside and see your wife and [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> child!”<\/span>
\nMy [C<\/em>]<\/strong> heart it filled with [E7<\/em>]<\/strong> joy<\/span>
\nI could [A7<\/em>]<\/strong> see it was a [Dm<\/em>]<\/strong> boy<\/span>
\n[D7<\/em>]<\/strong> For he [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> had a ukulele in his [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand<\/span>
\n[E7<\/em>]<\/strong> Oh [A7<\/em>]<\/strong> Baby!<\/span>
\n[D7<\/em>]<\/strong> He had a [G7<\/em>]<\/strong> ukulele in his [C<\/em>]<\/strong> hand!<\/span><\/p>\n
