Every [G] morning at the mine you could [F] see him arrive \r\n<\/span>He stood [G] six foot six and weighed [F] 245 \r\n<\/span>Kinda [G] broad at the shoulder and [F] narrow at the hip \r\n<\/span>And [G] everybody knew you didn't [F] give no lip to Big [G] John. \r\n<\/span>Big [Em] John, Big [C] Jaw----won, [D] Big Bad John.  [G] \r\n<\/span> \r\nNo-[G]-body seemed to know where [F] John called home\r\nHe just [G] drifted into town and [F] stayed all alone\r\n[G] Didn't say much a-kinda [F] quiet and shy\r\nAnd [G] if he spoke at all, he [F] just said hi.  Big [G] John\r\nBig [Em] John, Big [C] Jaw----won, [D] Big Bad John. [G] <\/span>\r\n \r\nSome-[G]-body said he came down from [F] New Orleans\r\nWhere he [G] got in a fight over a [F] Cajun Queen\r\nAnd a [G] crashing blow from a [F] huge right hand\r\nSent a [G] Louisiana fellow to the [F] Promised Land Big [G] John\r\n \r\nThen [G] came one day at the [F] bottom of the mine \r\n<\/span>When a [G] timber cracked and the [F] men started crying \r\n<\/span>Miners were [G] praying and their [F] hearts beat fast \r\n<\/span>And [G] everybody thought they'd [F] breathed their last 'cept [G] John \r\n<\/span>\r\nThrough the [G] dust and the smoke of this [F] man made Hell \r\n<\/span>Walked a [G] giant of a man that the [F] miners knew well \r\n<\/span>Grabbed a [G] sagging timber and gave [F] out with a groan \r\n<\/span>And like a [G] giant oak tree just [F] stood there alone Big [G] John \r\n<\/span>Big [Em] John, Big [C] Jaw----won, [D] Big Bad John. [G] \r\nWith [G] all of his strength he gave a [F] mighty shove \r\n<\/span>Then a [G] miner yelled out \"There's a [F] light up above \r\n<\/span>And [G] 20 men scrambled from a [F] would be grave \r\n<\/span>[G] Now there's only one left [F] down there to see Big [G] John \r\n<\/span>\r\nWith [G] jacks and timbers they [F] started back down \r\n<\/span>Then [G] came that rumble way [F] down in the ground \r\n<\/span>And [G] smoke and gas belched [F] outta that mine \r\n<\/span>[G] Everybody knew it was the [F] end of the line for Big [G] John \r\n<\/span>Big [Em] John, Big [C] Jaw----won, [D] Big Bad John.
