C The Winner, Bobby Bare<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

C<\/span>\r\nThe hulk of a man with a beer in is hand\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nLooked like a drunk old fool\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd I knew if I hit him right\r\n           C<\/span>\r\nWhy I could knock him off-a that stool\r\n<\/span> \r\nBut ever'body they said Watch out,\r\n           F<\/span>\r\nHey, that's Tiger Man McCool\r\n<\/span>          G<\/span>\r\nHe's had a whole lot of fights\r\n<\/span>                           C<\/span>\r\nAnd he's always come out a winner\r\n<\/span> \r\n \r\nG<\/span>           C<\/span>\r\nYea!, he's a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\n \r\nC<\/span>\r\nBut I'd had myself about five too many\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nAnd I walked up tall and proud\r\n<\/span> \r\nI faced his back and I faced the fact\r\n             C<\/span>\r\nThat he had never stooped or bowed\r\n<\/span> \r\nI said, Tiger Man, you're a pussycat\r\n       F<\/span>\r\nAnd a hush fell on the crowd\r\n<\/span>             G<\/span>\r\nI said let's you and me go outside and see\r\n<\/span>         C<\/span>\r\nWho's a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nC<\/span>\r\nWell, he gripped the bar with one big hairy hand\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nAnd he braced against the wall\r\n<\/span> \r\nHe slowly looked up from his beer\r\n    C<\/span>\r\nMy God, that man was tall\r\n<\/span> \r\nHe said boy, I see you're a scrapper\r\n                    F<\/span>\r\nSo just before you fall\r\n<\/span>          G<\/span>\r\nI'm gonna tell you just a little\r\n<\/span>                            C<\/span>\r\n'Bout what it means to be a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nC<\/span>\r\nHe said Now you see these bright white smiling teeth\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nYou know they ain't my own\r\n<\/span> \r\nMine rolled away like chiclets\r\n         C<\/span>\r\nDown the street in San Antone\r\n<\/span> \r\nBut I left that person, cursin'\r\n                        F<\/span>\r\nNursin' seven broken bones\r\n<\/span>                            G<\/span>\r\nAnd he, uh, only broke, uh, three of mine\r\n<\/span>                  C<\/span>\r\nThat makes me the winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nC<\/span>\r\nHe said Now behind this grin, I got steel pins\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nThat holds my jaw in place\r\n<\/span> \r\nA trophy of my most successful\r\n   C<\/span>\r\nMotorcycle race\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd each morning when I wake and touch\r\n      F<\/span>\r\nThis scar across my face\r\n<\/span>     G<\/span>\r\nIt reminds me of all I got\r\n<\/span>           C<\/span>\r\nby being a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nC<\/span>\r\nNow this broken back was a dying act\r\n<\/span>G<\/span>\r\nOf a handsome Harry Clay\r\n<\/span> \r\nThat sticky Cincinnati night\r\n    C<\/span>\r\nI stole his wife away\r\n<\/span> \r\nBut that woman she gets uglier\r\n              F<\/span>\r\nAnd she gets meaner every day\r\n<\/span>      G<\/span>\r\nBut I got her, boy\r\n<\/span>                        C<\/span>\r\nthat's what makes me a winner\r\n<\/span> \r\n \r\nChange to ...[D]\r\n \r\n \r\nD<\/span>\r\nHe said You gotta speak loud when you challenge me son\r\n<\/span>           A<\/span>\r\n'Cause it's hard for me to hear\r\n<\/span> \r\nWith this twisted neck and these migrane pains\r\n         D<\/span>\r\nAnd this big old cauliflower ear\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd if it wasn't for this glass eye of mine\r\n         G<\/span>\r\nWhy, I'd shed a happy tear\r\n<\/span>   A<\/span>\r\nTo think of all you're gonna get\r\n<\/span>          D<\/span>\r\nBy being a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nD<\/span>\r\nI got ar-th-rit-ic elbows, son\r\n<\/span>        A<\/span>\r\nI got dislocated knees\r\n<\/span> \r\nFrom pickin' fights with thunderstorms\r\n     D<\/span>\r\nAnd chargin' into trees\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd my nose's been broke so often\r\n        G<\/span>\r\nI might lose it if I sneeze\r\n<\/span>     A<\/span>\r\nAnd son, you say you\r\n<\/span>                 D<\/span>\r\nstill wanna be a winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nD<\/span>\r\nNow you remind me a lot of my younger days\r\n<\/span>            A<\/span>\r\nWith your knuckles a-clenchin' white\r\n<\/span> \r\nBut boy, I'm gonna sit right here\r\n     D<\/span>\r\nAnd sip this beer all night\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd if there's somethin' that you gotta gain or prove\r\n    G<\/span>\r\nby winnin' some silly fight\r\n<\/span>      A<\/span>\r\nWell, OK, I quit, I lose\r\n<\/span>            D<\/span>\r\nYou're the winner.\r\n<\/span> \r\nD<\/span>\r\nOh, I stumbled from that barroom\r\n<\/span>       A<\/span>\r\nNot so tall and not so proud\r\n<\/span> \r\nAnd behind me I still hear\r\n      D<\/span>\r\nthe hoots and laughter of the crowd\r\n<\/span> \r\nBut my eyes still see and my nose still works\r\n       G<\/span>\r\nAnd my teeth are still in my mouth\r\n<\/span>        A<\/span>\r\nAnd you know, I guess that\r\n<\/span>             D<\/span>\r\nMakes me the winner.\r\n<\/span><\/pre>\n
